SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP - Weekends from 10am

Come and Join in the Fun - cant make it then? - join our pack sessions on Thursdays or Tuesday obedience control work or why not join our pack walks instead - click here for details.

Adult dogs and Puppies can now benefit from special social skills groups with the team at Walkabout. Whether your dog or puppy needs to learn how to play and interact with other dogs or just needs a chance to let off steam, Saturday or Sunday mornings is the time to set aside to let your dog spend some doggy time with his or her friends. We also now have sessions on Tuesday mornings or Thursday afternoons. These sessions are fully supervised by our trainers and their teaching dogs. Teaching dogs cannot be taught to do this job, they have a natural skill and then using our experience, are encouraged to supervise the dogs. Over the past years we have built up a group of friendly dogs and their owners that can help your dog to learn too.

Learning how to behave on lead using the power of the pack walk!

- at last some where to help our misunderstood dogs!

All dogs need to have some rest and relaxation, a time to socialise and read the doggy newspaper! But they don’t get the chance………….

Perhaps their owner doesn’t have a place to allow them to run free.

Perhaps they have poor social skills and cannot cope with other dogs.

They are too nervous, too aggressive, too naughty?  Whatever the reason, they don’t get off lead very much.  We can help these dogs to run free in a fully supervised and stress free environment.

Using our “teaching “dogs, we can help your dog learn how to behave. We can offer a range of schemes to help these dogs develop their real potential.

    How Does it Work?

All dogs have to be assessed before we allow them to join the groups. It will allow our professional handlers and trainers to decide how to help your dog and into which group we would like to put them. Appointments are then made for your visits to our social groups. A minimum of four visits is recommended to help the dog learn new skills. After this in consultation with your dogs trainer and yourself, further visits can be arranged.

Individual help always available but most dogs just need to learn that you are their leader. Then they can learn to have fun!

If your dog has problems, we will devise a program for you to follow through with your dog to help it learn new skills on how to cope with the new situation it is facing.  But if your dog just needs the chance to run around and let off steam, then  fine, they can play with other nice dogs as well.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time to allow for your dog to settle and for instructions to be given. Leave your dog in the car at first and then we can assess your dog fully before introducing it to the pack. Come and see how this works.

What Does it Cost?

Initial Assessment  £75 per dog to include the first visit and assessment.

The first visit will cover the assessment and design of the training programme with the dog and its owner. We then suggest a minimum of  4 visits to any of the social groups to help your dog relearn its social skills and for you to put it all into practice.

If subsequent 121 visits are required these will be at the cost of £30 per dog per session if held within a group. Independent visits are also available although the costs will be a little higher. Visits to the social groups cost £17.50 per session with discounts for block bookings.

Please note that to secure your booking you must return your application form with a deposit of £25 to the office.

Balance of payment can be made on the day.

Means of Payment?

Please note that a 3% charge is made for all debit/credit cards taken. A £25 deposit must be made to secure your assessment and this is to be made to the office before you attend for your first session.

Farnham Meetings

As with all our socialisation groups, all meetings are fully supervised and we are mindful of all the dogs' needs. A teenager's  needs ( a chance to run and body slam with each other) will be different to a slightly older dog who needs a calm and controlled environment.  But both need a chance to be off lead and relearn their canine manners and all owners need the time to practice their skills within a safe environment. With this in mind, we are splitting the group so that everyone can benefit from our Tuesday morning meetings.

Teenage dogs - start at 10.30 - all dogs under the age of 18months

All dogs that have currently been assessed - start at 11.30

We look forward to seeing you all again next Tuesday at Farnham.

It can be relaxing training your dog the Walkabout Way!

  • Why not ask about our Understanding Dog Behaviour course - a one year course working with us and learning about how to help your dog and many others. Click here for more details.

Obedience and basic control needed?  Why not join our Tuesday morning class at Farnham.

Interested in how the pack works, then Thursday afternoons are the place to be.  We also offer 121 help at this venue and 1 hour sessions can be booked through the office to allow you to work on just your dog and problems you are experiencing.

We can also help with:

Puppy Socialisation Classes are held where puppies have the opportunity to meet a variety of animals and learn how to behave around them.  The most valuable lesson they learn is how to relate to their own species. You'd be surprised at how many dogs don't know simple canine communication skills! Our puppies are all invited to join in at the social groups and enjoy the company of our teacher dogs. Regular meetings on Sunday mornings at our Farnborough venue.

What does this mean? Should I stop it? Come and Find out.........

Appointments can now be made to join us for daytime visits to our training venues throughout the area.
