Training Classes

Thank you for  looking at our website for further information about our training classes. We offer a range of different ways of helping you train and socialise your dog.  At all times we are aware of your commitment to look after your dog but we also look at what your dog needs are as well.  With this in mind, we help you learn how to understand your dog and make the whole experience a good one.

Available on Thursday evenings in Frimley Green:

Held at Frimley Green Football Club hall in the Recreation Ground

Puppy Classes - available at Frimley Green at 7pm

  • Start as you mean to go on -  you bring your puppy home full of excitement and plans of how you are you going to train this dog to become a well behaved member of the family.  However, within a very short period of time, you will find that things are slipping and your puppy is already making a bid to take over – sound familiar? Well don’t worry – help is at hand.

  • Our puppy groups are designed to help you and are run on a “join when you choose” basis, so you don’t have to wait to enroll your puppy on the next course. You can come along and join us as soon as your Vet tells you that you can. This is often after the first inoculation as all the other puppies have also been vaccinated and we can start the socialisation programme quickly.

  • Meet our Teaching Dogs - Dogs learn best off other dogs, especially older mature dogs and so we always involve our teaching dogs in this programme so that your puppy can continue to learn manners like it did from its mum and litter mates.

  • 6 week course - designed around the Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Course

  • All the family welcome to come and learn - young children should be supervised please.

Social Skills Classes - at  7.45pm -

  • 6 week course which includes some basic training and the opportunity to meet and socialise with other friendly dogs.

  • Come and learn how to understand and teach your dog and have some fun as well.

  • We are Kennel Club accredited and you have the option taking the Good Citizen Tests should you want to.

  • All breeds and ages from 6months welcome. Rescue dogs are specially welcome.

  • We aim to help build your confidence so you can handle your dog in any situation.

  • Basic commands are taught and reinforced in small friendly classes.

  • All classes are fully supervised by professional dog handlers and qualified instructors .

  • Behavioural advice and training are given to support the course.

  • We use kind non confrontational methods only with no force, or choke chains

  • Run on a "join when you choose" basis, so you don't have to wait to enroll at the start of a new term.
  • Our classes small and are designed to encourage and help you train your dog.

Our charges are £75 per course payable at the start

Please Note:

We encourage you to bring all members of the family but ask that noise levels are kept to a minimum and that small children are well supervised and not allowed to run about. Thank You.

Equipment:  -  Please make sure that you bring your vaccination card on the first night so that we can record this on your dog's records.

Please bring along all your training equipment that you have at home on the first visit so that we can discuss which is the best for your puppy or dog. There is a huge range of “stuff” available to train your dog in the pet shops so if you are in any way confused as to what to buy – and we are every-time we go - then please wait and discuss what to get when you meet your trainer. Basically you need a collar, lead and dog, “pooh” bags and a few treats. Don’t feed your dog before you visit and come along and enjoy yourselves.

AGILITY CLASSES HELD EVERY TUESDAY EVENING AT 7PM

Just come along and have some fun. All dogs over the age of 1 year are welcome. Sometimes just the thing to encourage a dog to focus on you, is to learn something new.  Call for more details of the next course starting in September or speak to the trainers at your next meeting.

Social Groups and Rehabilitation Classes – held every Wednesday mornings.

Why does my dog run off, have a go at other dogs, jump up - all these and much more explained to you and your family at our training workshops held in Farnham. We use our teaching dogs to help your dog learn how to cope and communicate with other dogs properly. We combine some socialisation and gentle obedience to allow your dog to relearn some of their canine manners.

Starts at 11am at Farnham - book your dog's place now.

SATURDAY SOCIAL GROUPS

We meet at two venues on Saturday mornings, why not call the office to find out if you can join us for an assessment - or check out our Social Skills Group web page.

Find out what type of dog you have.........Learn what your dog is trying to tell you.

Cant make classes?

Let our trainers do the training for you with our

ONE DAY INTENSIVE TRAINING

Leave your dog with us for a one day intensive course of training and social skills. We will  make arrangements for your dog to be assessed by the trainer allocated to your dog.

These assessments are usually held at our social groups on either Wednesday or Saturday morning. Once your dog has been assessed, we will arrange for you to bring your dog to our trainers home on an agreed date at 8.30am and collect  again at 6pm. During the day the trainer will work with your dog and his own dogs to help address the problems that you are experiencing. On collection you will be shown how the training has gone and what to practice at home.  Normally we would then suggest at least two visits to the social groups on Saturday mornings (or Wednesday morning ) to help you practice your control of the dog and also to give you the opportunity to reinforce the rules with the trainer working with you and the dog.

Please note that we do not believe that there is never any need for harsh or correctional training – we use kind positive reinforcement methods and they work.  However this method may not work with any aggression problems currently experiencing and if you feel that your dog is showing any thing like that, then please contact the office as we need to address these working with you on a one to one basis in our rehabilitation groups before they spend the day with us.

One off visits can always be arranged - just in case  your dog suddenly forgets all you have taught him!

German Shepherd Club

We specialise in this magnificent breed and are proud of our successes so far. Whether you have a new puppy or have recently taken on a new rescue dog, there is a place for you in our club. All our owners enjoy bringing their dogs to share in the fun and laughter of our dogs many antics.

What you will soon learn is that you are not alone when dealing with your dog. We look forward to meeting you soon.

We look forward to meeting you and your dog.
