SATURDAY SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP

Come and Join in the Fun

Adult dogs and Puppies can now benefit from special social skills groups with the team at Walkabout. Whether your dog or puppy needs to learn how to play and interact with other dogs or just needs a chance to let off steam, Saturday mornings is the time to set aside to let your dog spend some doggy time with his or her friends. These sessions are fully supervised by our trainers and their teaching dogs. Teaching dogs cannot be taught to do this job, they have a natural skill and then using our experience, are encouraged to supervise the dogs. Over the past years we have built up a group of friendly dogs and their owners that can help your dog to learn too. All dogs are fully assessed before they are allowed to join a class and we have several groups of dogs suitable for all types of dogs.

Learn how to behave on lead using the power of the pack walk!

- at last some where to help our misunderstood dogs!

All dogs need to have some rest and relaxation, a time to socialise and read the doggy newspaper! But they don’t get the chance………….

Perhaps their owner doesn’t have a place to allow them to run free.

Perhaps they have poor social skills and cannot cope with other dogs.

They are too nervous, too aggressive, too naughty?  Whatever the reason, they don’t get off lead very much.  We can help these dogs to run free in a fully supervised and stress free environment.

Using our “teaching “dogs, we can help your dog learn how to behave. We can offer a range of schemes to help these dogs develop their real potential.

How Does it Work?

All dogs have to be assessed before we allow them to join the groups. It will allow our professional handlers and trainers to decide how to help your dog and into which group we would like to put them. Appointments are then made for your visits to our social groups. A minimum of four visits is recommended to help the dog learn new skills. After this in consultation with your dogs trainer and yourself, further visits can be arranged.

Individual help always available but most dogs just need to learn that you are their leader.

If your dog has problems, we will devise a program for you to follow through with your dog to help it learn new skills on how to cope with the new situation it is facing.  But if your dog just needs the chance to run around and let off steam, then  fine, they can play with other nice dogs as well.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time to allow for your dog to settle and for instructions to be given. Leave your dog in the car at first. The trainers will then decide which is the best approach for your dog and their decision will be final.

What Does it Cost?

Initial Assessment  £70per dog with subsequent 121 visits  £30

After  being invited to Social Group the costs will be:

1 visit       £17.50    or a block of visits can be prepaid at £150

There are discounts for family groups.

Please note that to secure your booking you must return your application form to the office. Payment can be made on the day.

Please check diary dates for full list of dates and venues.

Obedience for all - and a chance to take your Good Citizen Scheme Awards

This course will be run this year to help anyone who wants to exercise their dog outside, train them for the Good Citizens Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards and also for those who would like to teach their dogs a little bit more.

Why not join our Wednesday morning class at Farnham.

Here are two currently learning with us now - Xena and Ozzy with Dianne who is the owner of Ozzy and foster carer of Xena (lucky girl)

We can also help with:

Puppy Socialisation Classes are held where puppies have the opportunity to meet a variety of animals and learn how to behave around them.  The most valuable lesson they learn is how to relate to their own species. You'd be surprised at how many dogs don't know simple canine communication skills! Our puppies are all invited to join in at the social groups and enjoy the company of our teacher dogs. Regular meetings on Saturday mornings starting at 10am at our Farnborough venue.

What does this mean? Should I stop it?

Adult Dog Socialisation Classes are  where they can learn everything they should have learned in puppy hood (some dogs have short memories!). These classes are also an ideal opportunity for you to learn canine communication. Their language is quite fascinating. Regular meetings on Saturday mornings starting at 10am at our Farnborough venue. Check our diary dates for our next meeting.

Appointments can now be made to join us for daytime visits to our training venues throughout the area.
